Yes, I am aware that the Properties palette also has this functionality, but I keep that on my second monitor and I like having layer controls handy near my drawing area. Having it built into the QAT is a nice improvement and means I should still have that option when/if Autodesk removes the classic toolbars from the program. What I've been using for years is a toolbar overlayed with the drawing window title, but even with the toolbars locked, it sometimes gets displaced. I've been looking forward to that ever since the QAT was introduced. I saw in the Preview Guide for AutoCAD 2018 that the Quick Access Toolbar has the option to show the Layer Control in it.
